Soul Catcher Release and Gift Card Giveaway!

In honor of Soul Catcher's release, I'll be visiting a few blogs over the next month and giving away a $100 Amazon gift card. Enter below and follow me on Facebook for information on blog stops as they pop up. Don't forget to check out Soul Catcher and the rest of the Soulkeepers Series.

Book 4 in The Soulkeepers Series (13+)

Dane Michaels has been to Hell and back and isn't interested in repeating the experience. But as a human caught up in the Soulkeeper's world, his life isn't exactly his own. No one can explain why Dane was allowed through the gates of Eden, but it's changed everything. Now, the only one who can make him feel safe is Ethan, the telekinetic Soulkeeper with a dark past and a heart of gold.

When Malini asks Dane to be part of a mission to find the last Soulkeeper, Cheveyo, more than one team member thinks she's tempting Fate. But Malini suspects Fate has had a hand in Dane's life for some time and that he could be the key to unraveling Lucifer's latest plan of attack.

    1. Hi Carrie, I have a very prolific muse. I'm not sure exactly where the ideas come from, but I can usually "see" the book before I write the book.

    1. Gift is a hard word for me to accept. I feel like I am 10 % talent and 90% hard work. But I've enjoyed telling stories since I could write.

  13. Curious as to why you chose to name the dark entities "The Watchers "? In some earth based religious beliefs, watchers are helpful entities that ward off and protect humans from dark, harmful ones (essentially, your concept of Soulkeepers). I just found this interesting!

    1. Since the world of the Soulkeepers is based on Judeo-Christian mythology, I used their concept of Watchers. You can learn about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Enoch

    2. AWESOMELY fascinating! I guess I was trying to ask which religious beliefs /mythologies you based the naming of the groups on, but I think I was afraid to make the assumption that you were basing it on a religious tradition. I am familiar with the Book of Enoch, and I think your application of the mythology in this series is incredibly intelligent and purely amazing!

What would you tell a high school student who wants to be an author?

    1. Hi Cassandra! Thanks for picking up Grounded and SK. My advice for HS students interested in becoming authors is to continue reading and writing, trying all different genres, as you go about living your life and finishing your education. Even if you major in English or creative writing in college, make sure to take classes in business and marketing too. So much about being an author has nothing to do with writing and the more things you can write about the better your chance of being successful..

  20. I just finished Grounded and can't wait to see what happens next. I'm also in the process of continuing the Soul Keepers series.

The world building in Grounded was amazing - and I loved the contrast between the two cultures. Lots of lessons to be learned in this one. If you had to pick one, what were you hoping the readers would walk away from Grounded learning?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Grounded explores a theme that often inspires my writing: Can we as humans succeed in a scientifically advanced future if we don't bring with us the lessons of our past? We are quickly moving into a time when many things will be possible that are ethically questionable. At the same time, we are losing many of our traditional cultures to the pull of popular culture. For example, the Amish. ( The milk trials are a real thing.) Those traditional cultures don't have all the answers. But either does the scientific culture. And if we wipe out those traditional cultures, like the Amish, because their ways seem backward to us, we miss out on what we have to learn from their preservation of our history.
